• South Sudan: President Salva Kiir announced today the dissolution of the transitional government and the formation of a caretaker administration, about three months before the elections scheduled for December 22, 2026 — the first since independence in 2011. Kiir confirmed in an expanded presidency meeting in Juba that the political leaders agreed not to extend the transitional period again and to proceed toward the ballot boxes.
