• UNHCR: More than 400 Sudanese crossed daily into eastern Chad during the past week — about twenty times the recent rate — and arrivals this year exceeded 55,000; while funding covers only 18% of the $1.6 billion need, threatening the collapse of the response with expectations of further influx. • International Organization for Migration: More than 5.14 million returnees to their areas across 76 localities in Sudan, including about 930,000 who returned from abroad — 50% of them from Egypt, 25% from South Sudan, 10% from Libya and 8% from Gulf countries — in an indication of a gradual return of Sudanese to their homes. • A new report by the Refugee Platform in Egypt (RPE): The death of at least 24 migrants and refugees in Egyptian detention centres between December 2025 and July 2026, including 18 people who were under UNHCR's official protection, most of them Sudanese, attributing the deaths to overcrowding, poor ventilation, inadequate health care and delays in treatment.
