Friday, October 23, 2026 • Chad: The spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Babar Baloch, said at the United Nations briefing in Geneva today, Friday, that about 100,000 people fled El Fasher to neighbouring Chad since the fall of the city a year ago, and that about one million people crossed into Chad in search of safety since the conflict erupted in April 2023, warning that the escalating use of airstrikes and drone attacks exposes civilians to greater risks, forces families to flee repeatedly and contributes to growing displacement inside Sudan and across its borders, and calling for an immediate halt to attacks on civilians and safe, unhindered humanitarian access.
